Thanks for checking back in to the ‘President’s Message’…or if you are a first time lurker, Welcome!
I'm hopeful you got to meet most of the members at our National Rally in Tucson, 2008. We had a fantastic time; Beaudry was a superb venue; and our So. Cal. group pulled off an extraordinary event. Good job everyone and special kudos to John & Sue Thomas.
Since then we've had time to relax and enjoy each others’ company at our chapter’s local rallies. Everyone has stepped up to the plate to volunteer to host rallies, even some of our newest members. So what have we been doing since November? At the beginning of the year we enjoyed Emerald Desert RV Resort, hosted by newlyweds Willie and Marilyn Morris, along with Pat & Jerry Adams and Bob & Marge Hughes. Our hosts made it easy for all of us with much work on their part and not a lot of work on our part.
Our next outing, hosted by Lanny & Mary Wilson, Al & Myrna Gray & Don Newell, was at a new RV park in Bakersfield. Again, our hosts pretty much took care of us the entire weekend, including a dinner at a Basque restaurant. All kinds of food served family style. Ummmm, beef tongue anyone? Our hosts planned a team Olympics, which was a hoot! Everyone played, no matter the age…OK, everyone except Brooke Monahan; after all she was only 5 months old! And once again we enjoyed our famous pot-luck breakfast. So much food, so little time to eat it all!
Still wet behind the ears new members Scott & Susan Rose volunteered to host a rally, along with Charlie and I at the Pechanga RV Resort in June. Charlie and I worked together with Scott & Susan in the planning, but during the second day of the rally, my ‘honey’ had some medical issues. We had to leave, rather unexpectedly, leaving the rally in the capable hands of Scott & Susan. Let me stop right here and give a big THANK YOU to the Roses. New, having never hosted a rally, they did a fantastic job handling the rally on their own. I've gotten back some rave reviews from those at the rally who truly enjoyed the pirate theme, the treasure hunt, and the good, good food. I'd also like to thank those who helped Charlie and I during our emergency. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
What’s next for Southern Cal? October 22 – 25 a Rally at Outdoor Resorts in Indo hosted by Terry Farber & Debbie Hanson, and Pete & Eileen Smoot. Lots of activities and a great place for a rally. December 29 – Jan 2 New Year’s 3-chapter rally in Hemet hosted by Roy & Joann Lamb and Willie & Marilyn Morris. A TBD rally in April hosted by Joe & Betty Kloss and Don & Mary Ferderer. A October rally hosted by Tom & Gloria Jordahl; and an as yet to announce the date and location rally by John & Sue Thomas and Ben & Beverly Petty.
So stay tuned, while Charlie and I are knee deep in moving into the “city” area of Temecula, I will try to keep you updated on club news and rallies. In the meantime, get out there and enjoy your motorhomes, support the ACA, and take time to enjoy the National Rallies. You will never regret it and you will have the time of your life!
Thanks, Sharon Miller, President.
